Howick Historical Village

Hi my name is Byesion and i went on this trip to Howick Historical Village on Thursday. We went from old time games to going to school in 1850. All the old games were very fun except for the team log walkers but the rest were really good. Bowling was one of the games but it was pronounced in a way that sounded weird to me. one of them were skipping one that i'm really good at but not the best i'm better at the giant skipping rope which one do you prefer single person skipping or teamwork skipping? Then there was the hoop and skimmer and it was really hard I did not get the hang of it at all i was really really bad at it. That is mostly it . Next there was the braille morse code and last but not least semaphore we had to do this puzzle in morse code which leaded to a puzzle in semaphore which then leads to writing my name in semaphore, braille, morse code and then we had to write are name in another language I did not get to finish writing my name in another language but it was all about communication. Next up was the school house When we went to the school house there was no paper or books or pencils it was slates and a crayon shaped rock because back then paper was miles to expensive compared to now one piece of paper would be from 100$ or more and now it costs around 7$ and that's not that much so yeah. the taught us about the cane the wooden cane that hurts a lot but you can't do it anymore you would have to bend down and then while she is smacking while counting to six you will be to or else you will get it as well and it hurts more than someone punching you. Then she would say did that hurt? and if you say no then she will do it again counting to six and then you sit down and another punishment is you go home then you must write 100 lines of this sentence The cat sat on the mat and i think you get the cane if you don't do it and that is really bad and then we did head shoulders knees and toes and then it was finished we had lunch and then the best part which is the tour. First we went to this creepy house and it said not to touch the walls so we didn't but i think at least one person did. There was this bath that you would use but it is public and that is a bit to far. And you would get the water from the rain so that means if it has not been raining then you cant have a bath when it's really hot outside. There was this mansion that was really cool it had these spiral stairs that were really cool i had never then them before. there was even paper which is actually really hard to get back then there was also a horse outside instead of a car but it wasn't a real horse but it was still really cool then upstairs there was this dark hallway and that was really creepy there was also really cool looking windows that had different colors on them it was really cool and that was my trip we went back played silen
t ball nd then it was home time thank you for reading my post bye

  1. Wow - you have remembered a lot about your visit to the Howick Historical Village. With the games, I tried the one where you held two sticks and then tried to flick the circle to a partner. I found it quite hard to start with but with practise we soon got the hang of it. The old buildings were amazing. Some of the huts were very small!
Thanks for sharing this with us Byesion. I look forward to reading other blog posts.
